About the course
Forget everything you know about traditional artificial intelligence. Generative AI and Agentic AI aren’t just new tools—they’re a new form of cognitive labor. They don’t simply analyze information; they take action, execute multi-step workflows, and deliver outcomes that once required teams of experts. From diagnosing equipment failures with a single photo to autonomously building full-stack software applications in minutes, AI labor is redefining what organizations can achieve. This course
The dissent
The most-upvoted critical review (no upvotes, 3.0★).
“This course started abruptly. No introduction by the instructor, no syllabus, learning outcomes, or overview of the course were provided in the first module. This is a missed opportunity to orient learners to the course, its topics, and the key learning goals. It's poor learning design. I am disappointed in the quality of this course from Vanderbilt.”
Coursera's 4.5 comes from 40 ratings. Of those, 7.5% are 1–2★.
Starisk reads the reviews learners voted most helpful, and weights each by the square root of its votes: a review with 80 upvotes counts about five times one with 2. Unvoted reviews are not skipped out of laziness — by this model they carry no evidence that other students endorsed them.
That measures what the most-endorsed reviews say, not “true quality.” The rating distribution above is the whole population, so you can see the sample next to it.
